Presentation Overview

Build an Open Communication Channel with Your Manager

One of the most important documents you will be given when you start your new job is your job description. You need to pull that out weekly and monthly meet with your manager to get his/her feedback on changes and modifications to your time commitment and or output. This will give you a chance to take risks, make mistakes and get your managers advice on how to recover.

Joanie will get you thinking about critical career launching strategies.

  • Calibrate your expectations with your manager’s. You may think you’ve landed your dream job while she or he thinks you’ve come in at the bottom rung and have to work your way up.
  • Take risks, make mistakes, and learn how to recover. All of the best leaders and most accomplished people in this world have made mistakes and learned from them.
  • Life skills are what will help you thrive. Remember the REAL Life model. It’s important to be REAL (resilient, empowered, authentic, and limber) to succeed in real life.
