With more than 20 years helping job seekers build confidence, develop professional relationships and realize their career dreams, Heather specializes in one-on-one coaching, and creating fun and innovative programming for interactive courses and workshops. Heather and her colleague Darren Kaltved recently published, Love At First Interview: 8 Steps to Land a Job, an interactive guide to help job seekers build confidence and proactively find a job they love.

Heather completed her Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications with minors in Business and Spanish at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.  She waited until after graduation to do a reporting internship (not what she now recommends) in a newsroom in Iowa. There, she quickly realized that her values and personality did not thrive in that environment.  She found a better fit and went on to get a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Iowa.  Heather is an assistant director and career counselor at the University of Minnesota, where she has championed Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. She has held similar positions at the University of California, San Diego and at the University of Iowa. She has designed curriculum and taught courses for the past 15 years, including an abroad seminar in Sydney, Australia.  She has presented webinars for the University of Minnesota and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.

Heather’s favorite role is as the mother of two wonderful daughters.  Additionally, she likes being active through yoga and biking, including a bike trip across the heart of Tuscany this year.
